Duthie Power Expands Affordable Payment Options for Home Generators

To help Californian homeowners prepare for the upcoming fire season and its ensuing blackouts, Duthie Power has partnered with financial services company Synchrony to expand their financial options for residential generators.

“Making the investments you need for emergency preparedness should be within reach, not a luxury,” says Karen Cooper, residential sales specialist at Duthie Power. “As Californian homeowners ourselves, we’re both sensitive to people’s financial obligations, and aware of the need for backup power when the grid goes down.

“So in addition to reasonable generator prices, we’re now offering a variety of flexible payment options for homeowners. We want them to have peace of mind about both their backup power and their budget.”

Homeowners Can Choose Their Best-Fit Generator Payment Plan

Buyers can now get new generator finance due to Synchrony and Duthie Power’s partnership. Options include:

  • No monthly interest if paid in full within 6, 12, or 18 months
  • 5.99% APR rates until paid in full
  • No monthly interest if paid in full within 25 months

“The 6-18 month plans are most cost-efficient, so I recommend those to homeowners when it’s doable for them,” says Cooper. “And since many people aren’t in that position, the latter two options make backup power accessible and budget-friendly for more households.”

How To Avoid Power Emergencies in Summer: Don’t Wait

These home generator financing options come just in time for homeowners to ensure backup power during fire season. And Cooper has advice for homeowners this spring: don’t wait until summer.

Many times, people don’t call us until there’s a power outage or evacuation,” she shares. “They don’t realize they need a generator until their power goes out.

“At that point, the lead times for backup generators are astronomically high – several weeks, even months. So it’s too late to install a generator that deals with their current emergency.”

This demand for generators skyrockets in the summer, when most power outages occur in California. In addition, the supply chain is still recovering from pandemic-induced shortages, making lead times even longer this year. So Cooper recommends ordering a home generator option now if possible.

“We’re six months ahead of fire season, so there’s just enough time to get a generator this spring,” she says. “If you wait until summer, you won’t get it until the end. And it’s shaping up to be a wild summer.”

Fortunately, Duthie’s flexible generator finance options help many Californian households to follow her advice – well before an emergency hits.
